Salta, Argentina
For good reason, Argentina’s northwestern province of Salta is nicknamed Salta la Linda, meaning “Salta the Beautiful.” And these days, the area’s beauty is getting a lot of deserved attention; Salta’s uniquely diverse landscape has become a major draw for international tourists and adventure seekers. From the west of Salta to the east, there are high plains, grand mountains, deep valleys, canyon lands, rolling hills, vast farmlands and even jungles. Pristine rivers and streams flow throughout much of Salta, teeming with fish and attracting an abundance of wildlife.
Salta’s culture is as fascinating as its geography. An intriguing blend of ancient native traditions and modern, more European, influences makes Salta a culturally distinctive province. This uniqueness is evident in everything from the regional cuisine to the area’s spectacular architecture.
Salta Dove Hunting
Many Argentina dove hunting enthusiasts are now setting their sites on Salta. Though Salta dove hunting isn’t yet as famous as Cordoba dove hunting, the shooting in Salta is as impressive as it is anywhere else in Argentina – non-stop flying, dove swirls blacking out the sky. For those in the know, it is said that in the next few years, Salta will take the reigns from Cordoba, and become the new “dove hunting capital of the world.”
Our exclusive access to Salta’s most desirable dove hunting farms means different high-volume dove hunting venues everyday. The entire 620,000-acre Anta Valley is at our dove hunting disposal – with ZERO COMPITION. This area of Salta produces bountiful yields of corn, soybeans, sunflower, peanuts and wheat. And, with an estimated 100,000,000 doves reeking havoc on Salta’s crops, area farmers are more than happy to have hunters in their fields. Though most of the Salta dove hunting is done in the farmlands, dove hunting spots also include watering holes, feed lots and the perimeter of the dove roosts themselves.
Salta Pigeon Hunting
Few places in South America can still offer throwback pigeon hunts…like they were in the “good old days.” In many areas of Argentina, pigeon hunting has been on the decline for years. Though it has become increasingly difficult for some outfitters to offer consistent, high-volume pigeon hunting in Argentina, the Salta province remains a pigeon hunting paradise. There are several factors that make the pigeon hunting here the best in Argentina, but none are more important than the fact that there is only ONE outfitter allowed to hunt pigeons in Salta. With ZERO COMPETITION, ideal habitat and responsible shooting practices, the quality of the pigeon hunting in Salta is unsurpassed elsewhere in Argentina. Don’t book your next pigeon hunting trip, before talking with your Detail Company Adventures representative about Salta!
Salta Golden Dorado Fishing
The Golden Dorado is South America’s most revered fresh-water game fish. Though the Golden Dorado is a distant relative of the salmon, it also shares common traits with large trout. A fighting fish, the Golden Dorado is famous for punishing lures, for making finger-burning runs and for its explosive aerial acrobatics. Salta’s many mountain streams are packed with monster Golden Dorado fish – with juveniles usually in the 3-15 lb range, and adults usually in the 15-25 lb range. Golden Dorado fishing in Salta is best in the Juramento and Bermejo rivers – both rivers are just a short drive from our Salta wingshooting lodge.
Accommodations
Completed in the late fall of 2007, our new Salta Lodge offers everything you could ever want in a hunting and fishing lodge…and more! No expense was spared when designing and building the new Salta Lodge – after all, the idea was to combine the best shooting and fishing with the best in accommodations. Though guests can expect an array of 5-Star amenities, the lodge lacks the pretension and stuffiness prevalent in so many other lodges of its caliber.
Nine spacious, and modern, en suite bedrooms provide plenty of comfort for groups of up to 18 hunters. A grand, central fireplace separates the large main living area and the dining area. There are numerous indoor and outdoor lounging areas, allowing for maximum privacy and relaxation for all guests. After long days in the field, hunters are invited to take a massage in the lodge’s private massage studio. The lodge also has its own sauna, and plans have been made to add a swimming pool for next year. Guests also have open access to our roomy, fully loaded wine cellar, which often doubles as a poker room and meeting area. This is one of the few lodges that suites all types of groups – families, old hunting friends and corporate groups alike!
